About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ER Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 12 weeks Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year in the Emergency Department required, 2 years preferred License: Active RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC (preferred), NRP (preferred) Must-Have: 1 year of acute care CNA experience required for CNAs Description: Immediate start needed. Interviews conducted by management. Facility has 15 beds. Critical Access Hospital with no trauma designation. General information: 10 Med/Surg beds, 5 Telemetry beds, 4 Emergency Department beds. Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics. General ED patient conditions include abdominal pain, CHF, chest pain, trauma, respiratory illnesses, seizures, and animal bites. Skills required include managing ICU holdovers, insulin infusions, cardiac infusions, vasoactive infusions, central line management, BiPAP and ventilator settings, procedural sedation, RSI levels, and triaging. Patient ratios are 1:4 for RNs and 1:10 for CNAs, depending on acuity. Support from Charge Nurse is available, who also carries a patient assignment. Phlebotomy services are available. Nursing Supervisor assists with patient care when on shift. Nurse Manager carries a patient assignment when available. No respiratory therapists are on staff. The charting system used is CERNER. Equipment includes Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE Monitors, Hamilton T1 Ventilators, and LifePak 20 Defibrillators. Staff may float within the facility as needed, primarily to care for Med/Tele patients. Weekend rotation and holiday expectations require working at least 1 or 2 holidays. Most shifts staff 2 RNs from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM and 2 RNs from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Nursing staff includes a combination of shared duties among the Emergency Department and Med-Surg. Scrub color must be a solid color and professional.
