Histotechnician Opportunity***$6,000 Sign on Bonus (external candidates only)***Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnician to join our team in Knoxville, TN.Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 11:30 pm - 8:00 amJob ResponsibilitiesProcess human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examPerform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimensSection the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slidePerform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sectionsProcess mounted sections through routine and special staining proceduresProperly orient and embed surgical tissue specimensPrepare the stains and reagents needed for special proceduresReport accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient careOperate and maintain manual and automated instrumentsPerform and document equipment maintenance as neededRecord equipment log data in an accurate and timely mannerPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresAdhere to the laboratory's quality control policiesFollow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reportingDocument problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as neededMinimum QualificationsAssociate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology1 year or more histology experience OR an Associates in HistologyPreferred Qualifications3 months or more of histology experience3 months or more of Immunohistochemistry experienceHistology and/or ASCP certificationsAdditional Job StandardsIn lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirementsComfortability embedding both large and small specimensAbility to accurately read all labels and documentsHighly organized with a strong attention to detailExperience working in a high volume laboratory environment is desirableFamiliarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocolsAble to pass a standardized color blindness testAt Labcorp we have a passion for helping people live happy and healthy lives.
