Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Telemetry Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse Department: Telemetry Shift: Variable Nights including weekends and holidays (8hr) Pay Range: $32.19/hr to $46.68/hr Signing Bonus: [$5,000] available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon fulfillment of employment requirements. Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. Supports the strategic plan, performance improvement, and patient safety activities. Provides nursing care to patients within the LVN scope of practice as delegated by the RN. Performs tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, assisting with patient hygiene, and documenting patient care under RN supervision and in accordance with the LVN scope of practice. The LVN directs unlicensed employee activity, collects patient info, performs focused patient assessments, assists the RN in planning and implementing interventions or MD orders, assists the RN with teaching patients/family, and evaluates the care rendered according to the LVN scope. Effectively communicates and documents data relevant to patient care. Utilizes knowledge of patient age, cultural diversity, and psychosocial/spiritual needs. Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and desired outcomes. Key Responsibilities Collects data and uses scope of practice to appropriately deliver interventions and escalates to RN or MD as needed. Utilizes effective critical thinking skills. Coordinates patient care across the continuum, progressing toward desired outcomes. Collaborates with licensed and unlicensed personnel. Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies principles to patient documentation. Follows a teaching plan and evaluates effectiveness in collaboration with the RN; includes family as necessary. Serves as a role model and mentors new staff members. Integrates knowledge of job-specific competencies. Develops and implements self-development and professional growth action plans. Identifies patient problems and reports to an appropriate resource person, considering multidisciplinary team and chain of command. Addresses age-specific needs of all populations served: adolescent, adult, geriatric. Contributes to an effective and safe working environment. Shows tact, sensitivity, and discretion to maintain good relations. Interacts positively and constructively. Prioritizes and multitasks. Arrives on time. Follows company policies, procedures, and directives. Performs additional duties as assigned. Pay and Benefits Placement within the pay range is based on experience and qualifications. Active California Board of Vocational Nurse License, LVN License. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
