Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an immediate opportunity available for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. The selected candidate for this position will report to the Northrop Grumman Laser Systems facility in Apopka, FL. This position is to support the design, integration, test, and production of laser/electro-optical, network and communication systems.Roles & Responsibilities:Implement and manage system requirements.Revises and manages both original and revised specification/interface definition document and expedites documents through signature approval process.Provides data to risk management (identifies potential risks) and trade study processes.Supports system design, data analyses, interface verification, testing, failure/anomaly resolution and mission operations.Supports the testing and/or evaluation/validation of one or more components of a system or subsystem analytical model or actual system implementation.Attends and prepares materials for presentation during System Requirement Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review and System Verification Review.Supports trade studies, system sensitivity studies, design optimization studies, system performance assessments, system design assessments, mission analysis and timelines and concept of operations development.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment supporting an Integrated Product Team.Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:BS Degree in Computer Science or related STEM degree and 8 years of related experience or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related STEM degree and 6 years of related experience, or PhD with 4 years of related experience.US Citizenship is requiredMust be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance for continued employment.2 years experience with DOORS requirements managements tool2 years experience process and Procedure writing experienceWorking knowledge of systems engineering principles and processesFamiliarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Preferred Qualifications:Active Secret clearanceFamiliarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and associated tools (eg, Cameo)Understanding of Statement of Work and other contractual documentsExperience writing statements of work and estimating project scopeExperience in problem-solving skillsExperience in performing failure analysis and driving implementation of robust corrective actionAbility to scope and generate product test plans, lead tests as Test Engineer and generate comprehensive test reports for internal and external customer distribution.Good organization skills – Ability to coordinate multiple projects.Ability to effectively communicate and present complex technical concepts to project, program, and company management, other technical managers, and customers.Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
