the scope of service is consistent with the current mission of the hospital to provide quality community-based primary health care to Jefferson and surrounding counties.

Job Description:  We’re seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Jefferson Hospital. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing in the Laboratory. 
  
• Performs manual diagnostic testing procedures. 
• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analysis of blood, urine, gastric fluid, swabs, and other specimens for testing. 
• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, while exhibiting proficient microscopic techniques and procedures. 
• Performs venipunctures (using syringe, butterfly, and evacuated tube methods), heel sticks, finger sticks, urine, and other specimen collections. 

Position Requirements:

• Successful completion of an accredited MT program. 
• Current MT certification through a Board of Certification Accreditation Program.  
• 2 years of previous experience is preferred but not required.
• Current BLS certification.
