BAM Resource Group BAM Resource Group Inc. is seeking an elite, hands-on Senior Heavy-Duty Diesel Fleet Mechanic / Master Technician to direct complex maintenance, heavy powertrain overhauls, and electronics calibration across our commercial fleet of Class 8 highway tractors and DOT MC-331 bulk liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) transport tankers.

This master-level role operates well beyond scheduled preventative maintenance.  We require a diagnostic and rebuild specialist with proven master-tier mastery of Freightliner Cascadia platforms, complete Detroit DD15 engine overhauls, differential carrier rebuilds, automated (Detroit DT12) and manual (Eaton Fuller) transmissions, and advanced ECM/module flashing and parameter programming using Detroit and Freightliner factory software.

Core Duties and Master Technical Specializations
Major Engine Overhauls & Precision Mechanical Rebuilds:

• Lead complete in-chassis and out-of-chassis engine overhauls on Detroit DD15 (and DD13/DD16) platforms, executing counterbore resurfacing, cylinder  liner  protrusion/shim  adjustments,  piston/rod  pack  replacements,  and  crankshaft  journal/bearing overhauls.
• Perform precision cylinder head rebuilds, valvetrain geometry setups, dual overhead camshaft timing gear synchronization, high-pressure fuel pump replacements, and injector quantity calibration.

Differential Rebuilds & Complete Tandem Drive Assemblies:

• Perform full bench teardown, inspection, and rebuild of heavy-duty Class 8 tandem drive forward and rear differential carriers (Detroit DA-RT-40.0, Meritor 14X/160 series, and Dana Spicer).
• Set and verify critical pinion bearing preloads, ring-and-pinion backlash, and gear tooth contact patterns (drive/coast); rebuild inter-axle differentials (IAD / power divider), driver-controlled differential locks (DCDL), side gears, and cross shafts.

Detroit & Freightliner Electronic Module Programming & Flashing:

• Utilize Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link (DDDL 8.x Pro) and DiagnosticLink / ServiceLink to flash software, program calibrations, and initialize new  and  remanufactured vehicle  control modules.
• Program, calibrate, and parameterize Detroit Engine Controllers (MCM), Motor Control Modules (CPC4 / CPC5), Aftertreatment Control Modules (ACM), and Transmission Control Modules (TCM).
• Configure and troubleshoot Freightliner multiplexed body controllers (SAM Cab & SAM Chassis), smart switches, CAN bus J1939/J1708 data backbones, and resolve complex terminating resistor faults.

Automated & Manual Transmission Overhauls:

• Diagnose, overhaul, and adapt Detroit DT12 automated manual transmissions (AMTs), including dual-clutch replacements, pneumatic clutch actuator replacements, split-gear cylinders, and learn-cycle adaptions.
• Overhaul and service Eaton Fuller 10, 13, and 18-speed manual transmissions, auxiliary sections, synchronizers, shift forks, sliding clutches, dual-      plate manual clutches, release bearings, and cross shafts.

Aftertreatment & Emissions Architecture: 

• Rebuild and troubleshoot CARB/EPA exhaust aftertreatment, including Detroit "One-Box" removals, SCR catalysts, DPF differential pressure sensors, DEF doser calibration, and hydrocarbon injector service.

Hazmat Tanker & Pumping Systems: 

• Service DOT MC-331 / MC-330 bulk cargo vessels, Blackmer/Corken liquid pumps, compressors, Fisher internal safety valves, and remote pneumatic Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).

CHP BIT & DOT Certification: 

• Perform 90-day California Highway Patrol (CHP) BIT inspections and annual DOT periodic inspections, certifying absolute  roadworthiness  prior  to dispatch.

Assist with training and mentoring other mechanics when needed.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Professional Experience
  •  7–10+ years of professional experience working on heavy-duty Calss 8 diesel fleet maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated track record executing major engine overhauls (Detroit DD15) , differential carrier rebuilds, and transmission overhauls.
  • Minimum 3+ years of dedicated diagnostic, repair, and programming experience on Freightliner Cascadia tractors.
• Computer Module Programming
  • Advanced proficiency flashing and configuring Freightliner / Detroit modules using DDDL 8.x Pro.
  • Full competency programming and pairing replacement MCM, ACM, CPC, TCM, and SAM Cab/Chassis units, modifying fleet governor parameters, and executing low-level multiplex diagnostic tracing.
• Technical Certifications
  • ASE Master Heavy Truck Technician Certification (T2 through T8) strongly preferred (minimum T2: Diesel Engines, T3: Drive Train, T4: Brakes, and T6: Electrical/Electronic Systems).
  • Factory OEM Certifications: Detroit Diesel Engine Overhaul, Detroit DT12 Transmission Specialist, or Meritor/Spicer Drivetrain Certification.
  • Certified Commercial Brake Inspector & Annual Vehicle Inspector under 49 CFR § 396.19 and § 396.25
  • EPA Section 609 Universal A/C Certification.
• Diagnostic Software Mastery
  • Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link (DDDL Pro), Freightliner DiagnosticLink / ServiceLink, Eaton ServiceRanger 4, Bendix ACom PRO, and Cummins Insite.
• Licensing and Tools
  • Valid Class A CDL with Tanker (N) or Hazmat (X) endorsement preferred, to conduct loaded road tests and field service calls.
  • Acceptable MVR.
  • Must possess a comprehensive master-level inventory of personal professional hand tools, heavy pneumatic/ cordless impact guns, torque multipliers, precision micrometers/dial indicators, and diagnostic meters.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of repairs from diagnosis through completion.
• Ability to travel to vehicle locations and respond to occasional service calls.

Preferred Experience

• Bulk Liquid Hazmat Systems: Experience maintaining pressurized DOT MC-331 / MC-330 cargo tanks, hydro-testing protocols, Fisher internal safety valves, and pneumatic trip emergency shutdown devices.
• Advanced Electrical Schematics: Master-level ability to interpret Freightliner wiring diagrams, isolate intermittent CAN bus J1939 fault codes, and troubleshoot digital multiplex switch clusters.
• Shop Operations & Safety: Leadership experience managing repair work orders, core tracking, shop safety compliance (OSHA/Cal-OSHA), and mentoring apprentice   technicians.

Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on mechanic position. The job requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, working around heavy equipment and mechanical components, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Work may be performed indoors, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions.
