Fund Controller

A leading private equity real estate investment firm is seeking an experienced Fund Controller to join its Dallas-area team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting, excellent analytical and organizational skills, proven experience with Yardi or similar accounting platforms, and strong communication abilities. About the Role The Fund Controller will oversee day-to-day fund accounting operations, manage financial reporting in accordance with GAAP or applicable standards, collaborate with third-party administrators and auditors, and provide financial analysis and reporting to support investment decision-making and strategic planning. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day fund accounting operations, including maintenance of the general ledger, cash management, and reconciliation processes. Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP or applicable accounting standards. Manage relationships and collaborate with third-party fund administrators. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of fund performance to stakeholders, including investors and regulatory bodies. Collaborate with external auditors during the audit process and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Monitor fund expenses and ensure adherence to established budgets. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls. Provide financial analysis and reporting to support investment decision-making and strategic planning. Assist with the preparation of investor reports, capital calls, and distributions. Liaise with internal teams, including compliance, risk management, and investment professionals, to ensure alignment on fund performance and compliance matters. Stay current on industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices in fund accounting and investment management. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CFA designation preferred. Required Skills 5+ years of experience in fund accounting, financial reporting, or a related role, preferably within the investment management or private equity industry. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations applicable to investment funds. Proficiency with accounting software and financial reporting tools; experience with Yardi or similar platforms preferred. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills CPA or CFA designation.
