HVAC Service Manager

As the HVAC Service Manager, you will oversee daily operations and growth of our HVAC service department, building and managing a winning team, ensuring customer satisfaction, driving profitability, and collaborating with sales teams to grow service revenue. Responsibilities Recruit, train, and mentor service technicians to foster confidence and competence. Oversee all service operations and maintain the highest standards of customer satisfaction. Manage departmental budgets, drive profitability, and meet P & L objectives. Collaborate with sales teams to grow service revenue and prepare performance reports for upper management. Act as liaison between service team and upper management, presenting reports aligned with organizational goals. Develop a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Daily Technician Revenue & Performance Ensure technicians meet revenue goals (daily, weekly, monthly). Maintain client satisfaction and keep non‑billable hours and call‑backs below 5%. Train technicians on adding value and mitigating failure. Ride‑along with technicians to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Communicate with existing clients about services and products to increase revenue opportunities. Drive departmental revenue growth by 50% year‑over‑year while maintaining a gross margin of 50% or higher. Resolve client issues promptly and prioritize based on urgency. Conduct 1‑on‑1 reviews, disciplinary and performance plans, and performance rewards. Maintain a technician retention rate of 90% or higher and ensure each technician completes at least 40 hours of annual training. Maintain up‑to‑date pricing, coordinate with vendors, and stay stocked to reduce supply trips. Work with Dispatch to reduce drive‑time expense. Key Competencies Proven ability to build, motivate, and manage a service team. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems and services. Experience in managing departmental budgets and driving profitability. Excellent leadership, organizational, and time‑management skills. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required. 10+ years HVAC experience. Trade school training. Clean driving record and valid driver’s license. EPA Universal Certification.
