Adjunct Instructor - Industrial and Engineering Technology

Adjunct InstructorThe Adjunct Instructor's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in courses within the Industrial & Engineering Technology (IAET) department at Lamar Institute of Technology, including dual credit high school students. Courses and programs within the IAET department include:Computer DraftingEngineering TechnologyInstrumentation TechnologyMechatronicsOccupational Safety and Health (OSH)Process Operating TechnologyRobotics and Automation TechnologyUtility Line TechnologyAdjunct Instructors must be qualified and competent to teach applicable courses within the degree and certificate programs – requirements vary. Hours vary depending on the need and course schedule and may include day, evening, and/or weekend classes, including online. Flexible scheduling and online work arrangements are available (depending upon course type and configuration). This is an exempt position.Duties/ResponsibilitiesTeach courses as scheduled and actively engage students in the learning processMaintain ethical and professional behaviorAttend adjunct faculty meetingsAssess courses on departmental and institutional levelsComplete required training, such as Blackboard Online Instructor Certification and Title IX Training, etc.Utilize LIT's Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) and Sam Houston State University (SHSU) Faculty Online Development Training to continually hone and improve professional knowledge and teaching skillsMaintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures ManualOther related duties as assignedMinimum/Preferred QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Appropriate degree, in accordance with specific program instructor qualifications. For example, some programs require a Master's degree, while other, more technical programs may require an AssociatesWork experience in the specifically-targeted program or related fieldWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsKnowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategiesPossess good verbal and written communication skillsPossess good time management skillsPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in related courseworkExperience teaching in higher educationRelated field and/or industry certificationsSupplemental InformationPhysical Requirements:This position requires the ability to: remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.Lamar Institute of Technology is an E-Verify Employer.
