Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a 388-bed Level 3 Trauma Center in Spokane, WA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and proficiency in IUPC, FSE, and C-section circulation

Details

• 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 12 beds, 3 ORs, and 2 OB ER rooms
• 36 hours per week on a Sunday–Saturday schedule
• Patient population includes high-risk and low-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum patients, as well as stabilization of normal newborns and couplet care
• Patient ratios: 1:1 for high-risk patients, 1:2 standard; unit follows AWHONN guidelines
• Skills performed include IUPC, FSE, IV starts, and circulating C-sections
• EMR: Epic (experience relevant to this platform)
• Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE/Centricity and Philips EFM/telemetry fetal monitoring systems
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• On-call applies only when called off due to low census on a scheduled shift
• Floating to Postpartum and NICU (for Level 2 newborns) may be required

Requirements

• Active WA RN license or compact RN license (pending license accepted with proof of application date)
• Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, and EFM
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required
• Proficiency in IUPC, FSE, IV starts, and C-section circulation
• One supervisor-level reference required for consideration; a second reference (charge nurse, manager, director, or above) required prior to start

Additional Information

• Level 3 Trauma Center located in Spokane, WA
• Unit support includes a 24/7 receptionist/HUC and charge nurse (who also serves as resource nurse), hospitalist coverage, and respiratory therapy with NICU access; no CNAs on unit
• RNs are responsible for phlebotomy draws as needed; IV/VAT team available if needed
• Orientation typically consists of 2–3 shifts depending on competency and comfort level
• One holiday may be required
• Hospital-provided dark blue scrubs
