UC San Diego Health has held its Magnet status since 2011.The UC San Diego Alpha Clinic is the cell and gene therapy arm of the Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center and specializes in early-phase, first-in-human trials. The Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center is devoted to accelerating the translation of all types of stem cell research to safe and effective therapies. It attracts patients, funding agencies, and study sponsors to participate in, support, and accelerate novel stem cell clinical trials and ancillary studies for a range of difficult diseases. The Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center has expanded to become one of six centers under the Sanford Stem Cell Institute umbrella.Under general supervision, the Senior LVN is responsible for performing a wide range of patient care activities. Duties include, but are not limited to, prioritizing and assisting with patient phone calls, administering medications, collecting data, performing procedures, obtaining specimens, providing patient and family education, and reviewing treatment plans.The Senior LVN also performs clinical study–related procedures in accordance with study protocols for patients participating in clinical trials. These duties may include central venous access, blood draws, dressing changes, peripheral blood draws, peripheral IV insertion, hydration, injections, procedure assistance, EKGs, vital signs, and rooming patients. In addition to clinical trial–related procedures, the Senior LVN also provides support for standard-of-care patient visits as part of routine clinic operations.The Senior LVN serves as a liaison between physicians and patients, as well as a patient educator. Other related duties may be assigned as needed. All job standards are expected to be performed at an expert level.UC San Diego Health maintains a marijuana and drug free environment.
