Packaging Team Lead (2nd Shift)
GILSON GRAPHICS Packaging Team Lead (2nd shift) Hours: 2:00pm-10:00pm
POSITION DESCRIPTION
OBJECTIVE
As a member of the Packaging department, the Team Lead oversees that packaging jobs are completed on-time, meet customer requirements, and are packed for safe arrival to their destinations. Oversight includes fully understanding job requirements, instructing team members working on the jobs, informing team members of estimated times, performing quality checks, and ensuring data collection is correct and materials are pulled.
SUPERVISOR
Position reports to the Packaging Manager
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead other team members with a customer focused and professional attitude
Understand details and rate of production to accurately complete packaging jobs assigned by Packaging Manager, Packaging Coordinator and/or Packaging Shift Lead according to the daily work plan
Work in conjunction with manager, coordinator and/or shift lead to determine most effective workflow, layout, location, and number of team members to complete jobs on time and within estimated time
Work in conjunction with manager, coordinator, and/or shift lead to verify all items (products, labels, memos, purchased items, customer supplied items, cartons, etc.) needed for the job are accounted for and ready
Work in conjunction with the shipping department for timing, shipping labels and packing lists
Setup/stage jobs for efficient hand work, packing, kitting, thoroughly reading the job ticket to resolve any questions, and making/arranging for cartons to be made if not stocked or ordered
Communicate instructions to team members, making sure tasks are performed correctly, set the pace for the team, monitor, and validate quality, and provide printed labels/memos/etc. as needed
Make sure team members are using data collection properly
If a job is unable to be completed, communicate status to manager, coordinator, and shift lead, leaving notes on all WIP, clearly identifying what remains to be completed and explaining why it has been left incomplete
At the conclusion of each job, ensure all requirements have been met including packaging for inventory, ensuring materials and planned activities are marked complete in data collection, any overs are marked/identified/dated before moving to the appropriate area, and extra materials and tools are moved to the proper storage locations
Ensure SOPs are being followed
Ensure rules are being followed (as listed on the team orientation)
Work with manager, coordinator and shift leads to establish and maintain SOPs
Collaborate with and train other leads and potential leads for a cohesive team environment
Perform Packaging Specialist responsibilities as needed
Perform Packaging Team Member responsibilities as needed

High school education or GED equivalent preferred
Experience
Prior packaging experience that demonstrated excellence preferred
