AIR RESOURCES SUPERVISOR I

Salary range: $11,437.00-$14,315.00 per Month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum alternate range when applicable. Office of Community Air Protection (OCAP) is recruiting for a Section Manager (Air Resources Supervisor I) to lead the Community Support and Strategy Section within the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) OCAP. OCAP implements the Community Air Protection Program under Assembly Bill 617, a landmark legislation directing CARB to address air pollution disparities in California's most overburdened communities. Responsibilities Lead a team of policy and technical staff primarily responsible for engagement with air districts, community steering committees and all other program stakeholders in implementing community air protection in Northern and Central California. Facilitate coordination across CARB technical divisions and with state, local, and federal partners, and lead recurring interagency meetings. Develop and continually revise the Community Air Protection Program Blueprint, the statewide strategy required by AB 617, updated every five years. Partner with CARB's Monitoring and Laboratory Division to support the updating of the statewide monitoring plan required by SB 352. Co-manage the AB 617 Consultation Group and oversee the process for selecting new communities into emission reduction and monitoring programs. Train, lead, and mentor staff in their direct and meaningful engagement as liaisons to community steering committees, community air grantees and air districts. Working Conditions This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. Telework requirements may vary based on CARB policy and operational needs. Optional telework may require occasional in-person attendance and may require travel within California. Desirable Qualifications Experience in supervising large projects or managing a team. Applied understanding of air quality and public health policy with a commitment to equity and environmental justice. Strong stakeholder facilitation, relationship management, ability to translate complex technical and regulatory material for diverse audiences.
