Water/Wastewater Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Water/Wastewater Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality infrastructure and treatment projects across the water sector. This role will involve working on the development, design and improvement of water and wastewater systems, from early feasibility through to detailed design, construction and commissioning. You will contribute to projects that improve network resilience, environmental performance and public health outcomes.


Your responsibilities will include preparing technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings and schedules; assessing the performance of existing assets; developing practical and cost-effective engineering solutions; and supporting the preparation of business cases, risk assessments and project documentation. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, clients and regulatory stakeholders to ensure that designs meet relevant legislation, technical standards, health and safety requirements and environmental objectives. Depending on experience, you may also provide technical guidance to junior colleagues, review designs and support site inspections, construction activities and commissioning.


Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, chemical or water engineering, together with relevant experience in water or wastewater infrastructure, treatment processes, hydraulics or network modelling. Knowledge of current UK legislation, industry standards and regulatory requirements is essential. Experience with design software, hydraulic modelling tools, asset management systems or project delivery frameworks would be advantageous. You should be confident analysing technical information, solving complex engineering problems and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. Professional registration, or a clear commitment towards chartership, is desirable.
