PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN (FM / IM)

The Opportunity

Outpatient primary care for Veterans at a VA community-based outpatient clinic in southern Minnesota. Weekday clinic hours, no call, no nights, no weekends, no hospital rounding and no procedures. A steady panel of about 1,000 Veterans with a supportive PACT team. This is a long-term contract seat: a 1-year base period beginning January 2027 with two 1-year option periods.

The area is home to Minnesota State University, Mankato, with a lively downtown, river trails, state parks and lakes nearby, and a cost of living well below the Twin Cities. Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is roughly 75 miles northeast, about 1 hour 15 minutes by car via US-169.

The Facility

The Lyle C. Pearson VA Clinic is a community-based outpatient clinic of the Minneapolis VA Health Care System (VISN 23). 1400 Madison Ave, Suite 502, Mankato, MN 56001.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care to a panel of approximately 1,000 Veterans: annual exams, acute and chronic disease management, preventive care
• See up to 14 scheduled patients per day plus up to 4 walk-ins, in person and by VA Video Connect
• Order and interpret labs, imaging and ECGs; prescribe and manage medications
• Coordinate with specialists, social work and the PACT team; attend the weekly PACT meeting
• Document every encounter in the VA electronic health record (CPRS); up to 8 hours per week of protected administrative time
• Participate in quality improvement and peer review

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (ABFM) or Internal Medicine (ABIM)
• Active, full and unrestricted U.S. medical license (Minnesota license preferred)
• Active DEA registration and NPI
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS
• No history of license restriction, surrender or revocation
• Outpatient primary care experience

Schedule

1.0 FTE, on site. Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Central. Federal holidays off. No call.

January 2027 (credentialing through the Minneapolis VA begins after award).
