Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Kearney, NE

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Minimum of 2 holidays within contract period

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting with a 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient ratio, serving adult populations with diagnoses including cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory conditions, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure
• Titrate drips including Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin per physician orders and unit protocols
• Manage and troubleshoot arterial lines and high-flow oxygen equipment
• Independently read, interpret, and document telemetry/cardiac monitor strips
• Float as needed to MedSurg or ICU (for PCU-acuity patients)
• Maintain a strong focus on patient experience, responsiveness, communication about medications, and overall hospital environment standards

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Demonstrated competency with arterial lines
• Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
• Must pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required for contract continuation

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or IMC setting with exposure to complex cardiac and medical-surgical patients
• Experience caring for diverse cultural populations
• Strong communication, adaptability, and team-oriented work style with openness to feedback
