Our company is looking for a Environmental Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Review of property and equipment to be excessed for environmental and occupational hazards; and DOT transportation services;
  • Underground Storage Tank (UST) inspections;
  • Spill response;
  • Segregate, sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements;
  • Clean/maintain organization and compliance of 90-day Accumulation Area, including sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, labeling drums;
  • Operate fork truck to load/unload trucks;
  • Conduct weekly inspections of main chemical and waste storage areas;
  • Assist with monthly waste disposal activities;
  • Perform and document daily equipment inspection prior to use;
  • Assist with ESE projects involving the evaluation of waste generation/removal practices;
  • Maintains open lines of communication with office management and staff;
  • Provides superior customer service by performing task on time and within budget;
  • Prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summaries and charts for review;
  • Collect samples of gases and meteorological data to assist in evaluation of air pollutants;
  • Assist Project Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pick up.

Requirements:

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education;
  • High School Diploma AND one-year experience in waste management; OR,
  • Proven experience with operating lift equipment, such as forklifts, straight trucks with lift gates, pallet jacks and drum dollies;
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule and be on call for spill response;
  • Must be able to follow prescribed safety procedures at all times while performing various duties;
  • Prior experience working with hazardous materials, knowledge of RCRA disposal regulations, knowledge of DOT regulations;
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER;
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills as the position involves interfacing with client and on-site personnel;
  • Have the ability to perform continuous physical labor, including moving heavy drums up to 50 pounds;
  • Have or have the ability to obtain Class C Commercial Driver’s License with a HazMat endorsement;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills;
  • 1-2 years of experience as a technican;
  • experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Self-motivated and able to multi-task.
