Mechanical Designer I designs and develops layouts for mechanical systems. Assists in the production of detailed schematics for HVAC or plumbing systems. Being a Mechanical Designer I may require a bachelor’s degree in a related area. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Mechanical Designer I typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.

Our company is looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer;
  • Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity;
  • Design conveyor systems to satisfy customer requirements;
  • Makes required changes, additions, and/or revisions, as directed by immediate supervisor;
  • Works closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design;
  • Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings;
  • Draw full 3D models in CAD platforms;
  • Adhere to standard practices for CAD usage, drawing organization and dimensioning;
  • Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software;
  • Analyze and integrate components into design (gearboxes, motors, bearings, etc.);
  • Eye for design aesthetic;
  • Complete component designs for machinery and tooling;
  • Design and Engineer custom solutions to challenging engineering problems to meet specific requirements of diverse project-based applications;
  • Coordinate elements with entire show;
  • Create detailed 3D solid models using Solidworks.

Requirements:

  • A degree is preferred but not required;
  • Automation tooling exp PREFERRED;
  • BoMs;
  • SolidWorks;
  • Configuration control experience in a production environment highly desired;
  • BSME desired or 2 year technical school graduate with a maximum of 5 years of industry experience;
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience with CoCreate CAD software is a plus;
  • Technical degree with minimum 3-5 years experience in design of electro-mechanical assemblies;
  • Experience with existing building system take-offs and design;
  • 3D solid modeling and 2D CAD drawing skills are required;
  • Must have experience designing plastic fabricated parts; ideal candidate will be familiar with a variety of fabrication and manufacturing processes;
  • Knowledge of electronic components and PCB s is desired;
  • Associates or Bachelors in Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Drafting.
