Our company is looking for a Mechanical HVAC Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops solutions to technical and design problems following established standards;
  • May work in the field to collect data for other teams, assess existing conditions, and review construction progress & quality;
  • Use discipline-specific software to assist with the design, including data collection, analysis, and equipment selection;
  • Design HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for education, healthcare, manufacturing and government facilities;
  • Write detailed field reports;
  • Participates in constructability review;
  • Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats;
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects;
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents;
  • Participates in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating;
  • Responsible for projects of average complexity/size;
  • Assists upper level staff with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule;
  • Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the mechanical group;
  • Utilizes advanced techniques for the analysis of specialized building mechanical elements;
  • Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software.

Requirements:

  • Training and proficiency in the core area of designing HVAC infrastructure within the Gulf Coast area; preferably the Houston market;
  • HVAC systems designs include 4-pipe hydronic, water source heat pumps, VRV/VRF, packaged RTU’s and split system DX;
  • Knowledge and experience using Windows operating system and Office applications;
  • EIT and/or P.E. preferred but not required;
  • Solid aptitude with AutoCAD absolutely required (REVIT experience complementary and preferred);
  • Self-driven, works well in team environment with strong communication skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines;
  • Minimum of three years of proven experience in planning and design of commercial mechanical/HVAC construction and infrastructure;
  • Develop innovative ideas and alternatives to provide cost competitive solutions;
  • Serve as project leader to coordinate efforts of all during the all project phases;
  • Accountable for specifics of design including equipment, application, duct work;
  • Communicate directly with customers and contractors to understand goals, design specifications, operational environments, etc;
  • Knowledge of specific standards including ASHRAE, ASME, SMACNA;
  • Analyze existing systems to determine short comings on a variety of systems;
  • Develop specific improvement opportunities for operating systems.
