Principal Hardware Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Principal Hardware Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and design digital circuits.Document product robustness using simulations, analysis and testing methods.Evaluate test plans and test results;
- Write papers, participate in technical meetings, seminars, and conferences.Protect inventions following ABB intellectual property guidelines;
- Arrange design reviews, analyze concepts and cost effectiveness of the hardware designs. Review the software architecture and implementation;
- Prepare and maintain product documentation, instruction manuals, project notebooks, and design and test documentation;
- Prepare and maintain product cost estimates and project plans.May require some travel (domestic as well as international);
- Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing. Assist Purchasing on supplier selection and component evaluation.
Requirements:
- Supervise design verification of products;
- Apply established development processes and assist in process improvement;
- Drive and manage architecture and design reviews;
- Drive and Manage the design, development and test of new embedded Hardware;
- Seek out and engage vendors of new technologies and products;
- Keep current with embedded Hardware trends and share knowledge;
- Lead Architecture analysis from marketing and engineering requirements and develop design alternatives;
- Supervise the release of manufacturing technical data packages for products;
- Demonstrated technical leadership on complex hardware projects;
- Experience with reliability and management technologies, memory systems, cloud scale computing platforms and/or advantaged networking technologies;
- Equivalent experience;
- Great cross-team collaboration skills and the desire to collaborate in hardware/software co-design;
- B.S or higher in computer science, computer engineering, or related fields;
- Experience in designing and evaluating system architectures, including modeling and simulation;
- M.S. or PhD in computer engineering, computer science, or related fields OR.
