Senior Electrical Design Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations;
- Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers;
- Research and specify appropriate purchased and preferred components;
- Determine power and load requirements/restrictions;
- Design, schematic capture, and prototype electronic products;
- Design and draft arrangement of linkage of conductors, relays, and other components;
- Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate company automation standards, GAMP5 and regulatory requirements;
- processessing contractor submittals and performing feasibility studies;
- Work with vendors and sourcing to define technical requirements for the product/components;
- Design and draft diagrams of cable connection;
- Design and implement electrical stress tests to ensure the reliability of the product;
- Design and implement test fixtures to verify the circuit boards’ and/or systems’ functionality for production testing;
- Ensure the electrical design is functional, robust, and cost effective;
- Create electrical wiring schematics, flow diagrams, panel layouts, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update schematics;
- Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues.
Requirements:
- High speed circuit design using advanced materials and packaging techniques Embedded processors;
- Standard communications and storage protocols;
- Low power FPGAs, CPLDs;
- High end FPGAs, SOC FPGAs, state-of-the-art memory devices;
- Mentor tools Suite (schematic entry, layout, routing, SI, power analysis);
- Power sequencing, monitoring, management;
- The ability to work closely with other engineers, lab technicians, product management and customers in a team environment;
- Physical circuit board layout experience (e.g. Altium, OrCAD, Mentor, Cadence Allegro) a plus;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Experience with personal computers; MS Word, Excel and Project required;
- Digital and Analog (e.g., drivers, power supplies, batteries) hardware design and development experience at the product level;
- 10+ years of experience;
- Willingness to travel on a limited basis;
- Microcontroller based hardware design and development experience at the product level;
- BSEE degree (MSEE or higher is a plus) with at least 5 years of hardware development experience.
