Head of Design Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Head of Design to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Create and enforce design standards for Findora applications;
- Represent the Museum externally on design related matters;
- Other duties as assigned;
- Manage the Museum’s team of multidisciplinary designers (9 FTEs), applying new ways of working where appropriate;
- Build and lead a talented group of UI/UX and graphic designers;
- Design memorable user flows for a variety of financial applications;
- Collaborate closely with the design and engineering teams to design and enhance the user experience of our products;
- Respond quickly to design challenges and feedback, and proactively anticipate needs for different teams and projects;
- Manage and grow a team of talented product designers;
- Work with many different in-house teams to help develop designs for relevant projects that bring the work to life;
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail on a variety of projects simultaneously throughout the creative and production process;
- Research, understand and evangelize the needs of our customers (renters, landlords, agents, property managers) to our product and design teams;
- Develop creative concepts that have a clear narrative;
- Establish the vision/mission/goals for the design team organization;
- Influence both company and product strategy through your team’s work.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience leading design initiatives;
- 5+ years of UI/UX experience;
- 5 to 7 years of supervisory and/or project/process management experience;
- Knowledge of end-to-end product design;
- Detailed-oriented approach to product design;
- Successful track record of overseeing the user experience of production-ready products;
- Understanding of both web and traditional media;
- Excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects;
- BS Degree in relevant field;
- Focused and clear communicator who values collaboration, transparency, and accountability;
- Proficient with leading design tools (Figma or Sketch preferred);
- Ability to supervise and develop employees;
- Experience working with Product and Marketing teams;
- A strong working knowledge of online and offline design, brand development and the creative process;
- Experience with design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch.
