The Junior Interior Designer creates functional and aesthetic designs that help boost productivity, increase sales, attract customers, or enhance a living space. Develops plans and designs for the interior of residential, commercial, or industrial buildings based on the needs of the client. Being a Junior Interior Designer requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty. Responsible for planning the use and layout of the space and decorating with color, furniture, fixtures, etc. Develops drawings, presentations, and cost estimates and coordinates the work of contractors. In addition, Junior Interior Designer typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Working as a Junior Interior Designer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.

Responsibilities:

  • Visualizing and sketching design plans as per the Lead Designer’s goals, but able to work independently as well;
  • Use Mac products, iPhone and Apple Computer;
  • Proven ability to work at a very fast pace in an ever changing environment;
  • Correspond and meet with Vendors / Manufacturers to source and learn about products;
  • Proven ability to project manage;
  • Manage and create project budgets and Track expenditures;
  • Proven ability to stay within budget;
  • Detail oriented with accurate data entry skills;
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop;
  • Place orders, ship and track to ensure install deadlines are met;
  • Inspect construction to ensure that alignment with design specifications are met;

  • Review vendors plans and quotes for accuracy and aid in Revisions;
  • Execute FF&E selections and specification with ease;

Requirements:

  • Project management experience;
  • Highly creative, imaginative and artistic;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Illustrator, SketchUp, Rivet or similar design software;
  • Portfolio of design work;
  • Strong understanding of Social Media, particularly Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube;
  • Experience with computational design;
  • Outgoing personality, but able to hunker down and focus without getting distracted by others;
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills: Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent communication skills, especially with regard to communicating an artistic vision.
