Our company is looking for a Lead Character Artist to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and train other artists on the team;
  • Oversee and maintain high visual quality for all character models;
  • Collaborate with character artists on character development and take those assets all the way to completion;
  • Work with the Art Director and Character team to define benchmarks and develop high quality assets;
  • Strong character portfolio with an emphasis on clothing;
  • Self-motivation, good communications skills, and a great team-player attitude;
  • Work with Art Director to drive and maintain high visual quality of character models;
  • Mentor the internal and external character teams through verbal and written feedback;
  • Collaborate with Production to organize, schedule, and manage the character art team’s day to day activities;
  • Deliver feedback to outsourcing partners;
  • Partner with engineers and tech artists to develop an effective character art pipeline;
  • Assist in character concept and design;
  • Communicate the visual design and development of the characters through art specifications, style guides and reference material;
  • A strong artistic sense, proactive personality, and eagerness to learn new techniques;
  • Desire to lead a team of artists and provide feedback is also a plus.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of physically based shaders and rendering;
  • Expert knowledge of Maya, Zbrush and Photoshop;
  • Strong texture skills and experience with Substance Painter;
  • Ability to create and manipulating texture maps and excellent understanding of the value of UV space;
  • An understanding of the human form/anatomy and structure/silhouette in respect of modeling;
  • 7+ years games industry experience;
  • An understanding of all current generation production workflows as they pertain to character art production;
  • Experience in a Lead or mentorship role;
  • Stunning portfolio that demonstrates expertise in modeling and texturing, including hard surface and organic assets;
  • A strong artistic sense, proactive personality, and eagerness to learn new techniques;
  • Desire to lead a team of artists and provide feedback is also a plus;
  • Ability to take and process feedback in a timely manner;
  • 2 + years in game character modeling;
  • Strong character portfolio with an emphasis on clothing;
  • Self-motivation, good communications skills, and a great team-player attitude.
