Capital Project Manager Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Capital Project Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiates project cost with suppliers to achieve optimal cost of ownership;
- Responsible for procurement of equipment and materials, and services; and selection and hiring of subcontractors;
- Manages material identification, application, receipt, staging, and tracking;
- Responsible for Project execution following various applicable design specifications and standards;
- Delivers timely, accurate, and high quality services and products to increase value and achieve customer satisfaction;
- Develop project acquisition strategies with the project team and subcontracting department;
- Review and approve all project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates, financial reports;
- Lead construction kickoff meetings with contractor leads and client representatives;
- Develop logistics plans that allows contractors to complete their work in a coordinated, efficient manner;
- Technical understanding of equipment specifications;
- Coordinate large equipment procurement though client Capital Equipment Procurement Office;
- Preparation of detailed project schedules including: Procurement of equipment and delivery;
- Review and approve all major purchase orders, change orders and contractor/vendor requisitions as prepared by the project staff;
- Develop scopes of work and assembling RFQ (Request for Quote) packages;
- Lead project teams and ensure project completion within budget, schedule and conformance with design documents and governance documents.
Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- A proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to effectively manage/oversee multiple projects simultaneously;
- Financial management experience creating and overseeing complex budgets;
- Ability to speak effectively in public;
- 10+ years of professional experience working in senior positions related to design and construction management;
- Professional Registration or Project Management Institute certification is desirable;
- May require frequent deployment to Antarctica;
- Must have demonstrated experience maintaining cost and schedule performance using earned value methodologies;
- Remote and/or extreme environment construction experience;
- Must have experience maintaining current infrastructure while building replacement infrastructure;
- Must be articulate, able to communicate with multiple levels of clients and stakeholders;
- Must have current working knowledge of construction industry standards and certifications.
