Claims Adjuster – Field Property Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Claims Adjuster – Field Property to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares properly documented file for data entry and payment issuance, including location/expense coding;
- Determines ownership and legal interest where appropriate;
- Establishes reserve or reviews the current reserve for accuracy;
- Ensures that reinsurance and large loss reports are made;
- Applies policy language within scope of authority;
- Assists insureds in person and cultivates good customer relations by performing the following duties;
- Oversees the activities of independent adjusters;
- Discusses claims above settlement authority with the Property Manager on a periodic basis;
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed;
- Investigates cause of loss and documents information in the file;
- Denies liability for a previously documented reason, if necessary;
- Examines policy to verify coverage;
- Re-opens and pursues salvage and subrogation, if applicable;
- Prepares report of findings and negotiates settlement with insured;
- Answers questions from independent adjusters and agents regarding coverage.
Requirements:
- Property estimating software (Xactimate) proficiency (required);
- High school diploma and education or experience beyond high school;
- Excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills;
- Construction experience or demonstrated understanding of building construction principles;
- Formal training in investigation and claims adjusting;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products;
- Must have the physical capability to perform field assessment and evaluation (required);
- Must have a valid operator’s license;
- Thorough knowledge of claims law;
- Minimum of five (5) years of field claims handling experience (preferred);
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
