Demand Planner Job Description

The Demand Planner determines the best metrics to use to provide the most accurate representation of the forecast. Analyzes inventory levels, production speed, and product demand to determine the amount of finished product that will be produced. Being a Demand Planner may require a bachelor’s degree. Works with other departments to determine optimal inventory levels. In addition, Demand Planner typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Working as a Demand Planner typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.

Our company is looking for a Demand Planner to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage new product launches as well as transitions with existing products;
  • Participate and monitor new item development process as well as revisions to existing products;
  • Partner with Systems to help develop internal tools to make demand planning models sustainable and scalable;
  • Utilize statistical techniques and business insights to identify key demand drivers and create cohorting analyses to share findings;
  • Conduct external benchmarking of market trends to be incorporated into demand plan;
  • Sitting or Standing for extended periods (up to 75%);
  • Manage all SKUdemandparam settings;
  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Manage product launches at the customer & SKU level and be an advocate for assigned accounts timing and load-in needs;
  • Special orders – review/maintenance items and move to Approved/Pending for CPOM Coordinator to purchase on the next order for that vendor;
  • Review items with order checks (Service checks, Plan checks, Forward Buy checks, etc);
  • Allocation – at least 3 times per day following the Allocation Standard;
  • Daily review of Orders to Expedite to include communication to CPOM coordinator or sourcing product;
  • Processing stocking requests – New item set up in ERP and DPR;
  • Activate new vendors in ERP including contact information, warehouse address and correct vendor lead time.

Requirements:

  • Works well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment managing competing priorities with ambiguous data points;
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Operations, or other relevant fields;
  • Sitting or Standing for extended periods (up to 75%);
  • Highly organized / detail-oriented with a strong business acumen;
  • The ability to communicate orally with others. (Co-workers, management, customers, vendors);
  • Strong mathematical / statistical knowledge and experience with common data software such as Excel, Google Sheets, SQL and Looker;
  • Experience with SQL a bonus;
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word;

  • Industry experience in consumer product goods, consumer electronics, or apparel desired;
