Director of Strategic Sourcing Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Director of Strategic Sourcing to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Position is based in New York. The position will require up to 10% travel;
- Negotiate both simple and complex agreements with professionalism and stamina;
- Ensure compliance with policies and programs in alignment with sourcing strategy;
- Develop category plans and short, medium and long term target opportunities within those plans;
- Interfaces with varying levels of management at OUTFRONT Media and third party service providers;
- Interact cross-functionally with other departments and serve as an effective and value-added service for key stakeholders;
- Reports to the Sr. Director Strategic Sourcing and Procurement;
- Ensure the effective delivery of initiatives, programs and directives in accordance with sourcing strategy and financial business plans;
- Identify and report key performance metrics to measure success and drive continuous improvement ensuring alignment with sourcing plans;
- Establish and lead a supply chain council with supply chain leaders from all IDEAL Industries businesses;
- Structure and negotiate supplier contracts to manage risk and ensure consistency with overall sourcing strategy;
- Develops, manages and optimizes strategic supplier relationships by leading business planning and performance evaluations with preferred suppliers;
- Drive continuous improvement to documented processes and procedures;
- Monitor and improve supplier performance in terms of delivery, quality and cost;
- Build/establish strategic relationships with key suppliers.
Requirements:
- CPIM, CPM and/or NAPM certifications preferred;
- Expertise in the sourcing of raw materials for manufacturing (i.e. metals, plastic);
- Perform work at a desk, and walking in and around manufacturing facilities;
- The successful candidate must be able to interact professionally with all internal and external customers;
- Domestic and International travel is required up to 25%
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Must possess exceptional communication skills;
- Successful sourcing of greater than $100 million annual spend;
- Able to utilize business and market data to identify and prioritize sourcing opportunities;
- Must possess strong negotiation skills;
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in purchasing/sourcing in a manufacturing environment;
- Able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of best practices in strategic sourcing for multiple categories and suppliers.
