Electrical Estimator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Electrical Estimator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Present estimates to clients in a timely and polite manner;
- Recommend cost-reduction options;
- Build estimates and proposals (lump sum, GMP, Cost Plus) based on an understanding of design, constructability, and sequencing of a project;
- Assist field operations with the estimate after bid award;
- Experience preparing reports and estimating documents for projects;
- Locate, notify and send bid information to subcontractors and vendors for quotations;
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- Extremely detail-oriented and well-organized;
- Anticipates requirements of producing estimates with little information given;
- Communicate with customers to define the project scope, address deficiencies, negotiate pricing, and build relationships;
- Prepare breakdown of estimate. Provide estimate information to Project Manager;
- Introduce cost saving ideas through redesign (Value Engineering opportunities);
- Must be able to read and understand drawings and specs;
- Prepare estimates on multiple projects concurrently;
- Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages including: sub-contract work, equipment rental, tools and supplies.
Requirements:
- Critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills;
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; background in mathematics required;
- Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements;
- Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents;
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
- Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information;
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of different types of building construction, materials, and methods;
- Experience in ConEst or IntelliBid a plus;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field equivalent in experience is required;
- Understanding and knowledge of Internet, Intranet, Extranet, and client / server structures;
- Capable to ask questions to other team members and/or management when not sure of something;
- Working knowledge of ConEst Intellibid or related estimating software system;
- Travel Requirements: Must be available to travel as needed within the market and for periodic air travel.
