Our company is looking for a Financial Counselor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Calculates, provides, and updates estimates upon request to various staff, patients, and other potential customers;
  • Stay current on all regulatory updates and policy/procedure changes pertaining to Certified Application Counselors;
  • Adhere to all state and federal regulations along with policies/procedures pertaining to the Certified Application Counselor responsibilities;
  • Notify appropriate areas regarding eligibility status and determination;
  • Assess patient’s eligibility for government sponsored programs / Financial Assistance;
  • Answer the telephone and maintain files;
  • Contact patient / family and conduct interviews for the purpose of assessing eligibility;
  • Coordinate with various agencies and individuals to resolve individual cases;
  • Ensures that estimated out-of-pocket requirements have been appropriately calculated and;
  • Inform patient of collection policy;
  • Ensures all collection activities are in compliance with State and Federal collection laws;
  • Fully documents all collection efforts into the system;
  • Educate consumers on out – of – pocket responsibility;
  • Fully documents all transaction requests into the system;
  • Collects the estimated out-of-pocket requirements prior to the patient’s discharge.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of third party payors and reimbursement requirements, medical terminology, ICD-9, and CPT codes;
  • 1+ years of experience in an office setting environment using the telephone and computer as the primary instruments to perform job duties;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing;
  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher);
  • Available to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during the hours of 10 AM to 6 PM;
  • Minimum of three (3) years previous Hospital Registration, Patient Access experience in a large, complex healthcare environment;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the patient referral and authorization process;
  • High Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint;
  • Bilingual skills fluently in Spanish/English verbally and written;
  • Must be comfortable traveling 25% of the time for site coverage, trainings and meetings.
