Heavy Civil Estimator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Heavy Civil Estimator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Create, send and manage subcontractor requests for proposal;
- Review proposal specifications and drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate;
- Actively participate in developing bid package estimate documents;
- Incorporate historical data into unit and man-hour figures;
- Performs other duties as directed;
- Security of shop drawings and building materials samples;
- Preparing estimates up to $200,000,000;
- Contract risk analysis;
- Quantity take off;
- Budget preparation and buyout;
- Review cost estimates of others to assure compliance with plans, specifications and jobsite conditions;
- Cost accounting for materials owner billings;
- Provide and present value engineering options and costs;
- Coordinate administrative staff in sending documents to vendors;
- Conduct thorough analysis of drawings and specifications, ensuring required information is provided.
Requirements:
- Ability to make decisions, work independently and coordinate estimating colleagues;
- Working knowledge of takeoff and spreadsheet software. B2W estimating software and Project a plus;
- 10+ years of Estimating experience on Heavy Highway, Bridge, Railroad projects;
- Ability to meet critical project deadline, willingness to coordinate and work as a Team Member;
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
