Insurance Coordinator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Insurance Coordinator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate to administrators any problems with their clients;
- Monitor alerts in all registries for all locations;
- Check daily fax folder and monitor daily emails;
- Send out initial Attending Physician Statements/ Plan of Care for all new clients to the physician office for approval/signature by physician;
- Ensure the 4 month follow-up nursing assessment is completed on all clients for insurance companies that have this requirement;
- Mail out claim forms to clients as required for processing claims;
- Communicate with the matrix department to set up approved services for clients authorized by the insurance company;
- Send annual or bi-annual HIPAA form to all clients in order to meet compliance guidelines for Privacy Health Information (PHI);
- Follow-up with local office to ensure initial assessments for new clients are scheduled based upon the initiation of claim or the start of care (SOC);
- Send change form to physician for increases and decreases in service as needed on case by case basis;
- Speak professionally on the phone with clients and insurance companies in reference to Long Term Care (LTC) Insurance Plans;
- Work with Case Managers from insurance company to ensure clients are following authorized hours.
Requirements:
- Must be detail oriented;
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization;
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos;
- Strong written and verbal skills;
- Accuracy is extremely important;
- At least 1-2 years of billing experience is required;
- Experience presenting dental treatment plans, a plus;
- Ability to multitask and work independently to ensure the job is completed;
- Must be comfortable working on the computer;
- Must have experience working with dental, medical, or other health-care insurance;
- Ability to write simple correspondence;
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations;
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions;
- Must have math skills;
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
