Our company is looking for a Internal Audit Intern to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Audit of internal controls regarding cash receipts, cash disbursements & payroll;
  • Assist in preparing confirmations;
  • Assist in audit asset & liability reconciliations;
  • Perform audit test work and documentation under the supervision of a lead auditor;
  • Work on ad-hoc projects for the Internal Audit department;
  • Assist the audit team by performing research and analysis, working extensively in Microsoft Excel;
  • Document internal control weaknesses and testwork exceptions;
  • Interns will gain hands on project experience in a mortgage investment firm with a strong corporate culture and strong employee tenure;
  • Internship cohort will be provided with in-office learning opportunities (i.e. lunch and learns) and Internship events both in and outside the office;
  • Perform audit testwork steps under the supervision of an in-charge auditor;
  • Please note only individuals who are authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship will be considered;
  • Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley annual testing;
  • Prepare narrative walkthroughs based on processes and identifying key controls;
  • Assist with special projects and assignments as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Ability to influence and build rapport with colleagues and customers;
  • Proven ability to plan, organize and drive business results;
  • Must be able to work part-time (Monday – Friday) days and hours will vary according to class schedule;
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, Excel required and Access preferred;
  • Must be able to make at least a 3 month commitment;
  • Outstanding leadership potential;
  • Must be attending an accredited four-year university, entering into a Junior standing class level or above;
  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Accounting and Finance concentrations preferred;
  • Demonstrates a willingness to go beyond what is required;
  • Action-oriented and resilient, staying composed and focused under stress. Comfortable with ambiguity and change;
  • Cultivates network of peers and builds rapport with auditees;
