Our company is looking for a Lead Estimator to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform conceptual cost estimates early in project engagement;
  • Ensure all estimates are accurate and have considered all risk factors;
  • Obtain labor rates, taxes and insurance requirements, as needed for estimate development;
  • Perform accurate quantity surveys for all types of construction systems and materials;
  • Participate in client or 3rd party reconciliations;
  • Maintain an operating awareness of all contract issues and project participants;
  • Analyze and identify scope of work from existing conditions, plans, and specifications through all phases of design and construction;
  • Participate in client and contractor negotiations to resolve contract changes and claims;
  • Assist the Resident Engineers and Project Managers with change analysis and development and / or validation of control budgets;
  • Build and maintain exceptional client relationships;
  • Identify and input new or revised data into estimating database;
  • Review construction project plans, requirements, drawings, and specifications;
  • Review designs and specifications for cost-effectiveness and suggest appropriate alternatives;
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates through all stages of design;
  • Manage drawing distribution to prospective supplier/subcontractors to obtain bids.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management or similar studies or high school equivalent combined with field experience;
  • A minimum of 5 years of electrical estimating experience on commercial and industrial projects, $5 million and larger;
  • Experience with Accubid, Livecount, and Bluebeam;
  • Extensive experience with excel, word, outlook;
  • Experience with project engineering or project management on a variety of projects including tenant improvement and core/shell construction;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, SAGE, AutoDesk, and or other design software;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Ability to strategize, problem solve and plan;
  • Working knowledge in use of Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling software;
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g. Civil Engineering), Construction Management, or related;
  • Strong knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff software and MS Office applications;
  • Preferred Qualifications;
  • 10+ years related experience in architectural/heavy civil/structural/utility elements for urban infrastructure and transportation projects;
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
