Principal Program Manager Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Principal Program Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Structure and harness data for improved optics into global service deployments;
- Define the partner and ecosystem strategy using assets across the Microsoft portfolio in Retail;
- Collaborate with Microsoft sales teams worldwide to ensure successful customer outcomes;
- Work with core Azure platform engineering teams to build Azure’s control plane that manages the Microsoft Cloud infrastructure;
- Become a subject matter expert in both service and product security;
- Representing the program(s) in senior-level leadership meetings, both internal and external;
- Own and drive relationships with partners using the partner strategy defined to successfully deliver customer value;
- Managing large cross organizational projects or a portfolio of projects/program at scale with experience and proficiency;
- Evangelize our solutions to customers’ and manage the development and roll-out of business dashboards through a quick proof of concept;
- Driving efficiency and quality into the engineering processes in partnership with the engineering lead;
- Good strategic management and planning skills;
- Subcontractor Management Certificate (ScMC) a plus;
- Identify potential risks and put the appropriate mitigations in place;
- Understand customer use cases and distill them into actionable requirements across the stack;
- Collaborate cross-group with different teams within Microsoft Azure.
Requirements:
- Product management, project management and an effective communicator with cross-group collaboration skills;
- 5+ years’ experience in program management and/or engineering environment;

- 5+ years with program/product strategy responsibility;
- MBA or Masters in engineering or related field preferred;
- Experience in collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data from disparate sources in order to drive conclusions and recommendations;
- 3+ years developing strategic solutions requiring participation across organizational boundaries;
- 7+ years of profesional experience in technical product management w/shipping products/services;
- Technical expertise and ability to build trust with technical teams and architects;
- Experience delivering/building products or services on Azure/AWS/ other Cloud Systems;
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a technical Program/Project Manager;
- 20% travel will be required;
- Good strategic management and planning skills;
- Subcontractor Management Certificate (ScMC) a plus;
- Self-motivated, self-directed, and able to lead and motivate a high-energy team.
