Purchasing Buyer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Purchasing Buyer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Engineering to ensure components are ordered on-time for new product introductions and end of life components;
- Place purchase orders for production materials by utilizing MRP buy messages;
- Support other site internal purchasing needs;
- Work with suppliers to obtain RMAs as needed and ensure timely closure of issues;
- Work closely with the Novanta Global Commodity team ensuring that corporate objectives are met;
- Ensure the site materials cost reduction plan is met for assigned suppliers;
- Modify POs based on changes to the demand plan;
- Solicit bids, analyze and negotiate quotations;
- Manage a global network of suppliers in a lean manufacturing environment at both a sub systems/system and components level;
- Monitor status of POs to ensure on-time delivery;
- Discuss/review with current suppliers their performances in delivery, quality, cost savings and inventory / payment term improvement;
- Provide reporting, as requested, for site and corporate.
Requirements:
- Experienced with MS office, Excel, Word, Agile or Arena software;
- Knowledgeable in commercial terms and conditions and contracts;
- BS/BA degree in business or related field is preferred;
- Experience with Excel – Must be proficient;
- Prior experience in a regulated environment including FDA preferred;
- APICS certification preferred;
- Prior experience in Medical Devices preferred;
- Experienced with ISO Quality Management Systems;
- Buying/Purchasing experience a plus;
- Three or more years of experience working in an Oracle ERP environment;
- Bachelors degree in planning/buying;
- Familiarity with electronic products preferred;
- Experience in Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI);
- Three or more years of experience in a buyer / planner role;
- International purchasing experience preferred.
