Senior Accounting Analyst Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Accounting Analyst to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile various inventory accounts monthly and maintain control of key areas of balance sheet;
- Develop revenue/expense analysis, projections, reporting and present to leadership;
- Prepares the accounting for unique or complex transactions;
- Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and BIIB accounting policy and procedures;
- Reviews monthly intercompany settlement process;
- Leads completion of the monthly close process for assigned areas;
- Review and Analyze inventory manufacturing variance, determine root cause analysis and take corrective action if necessary;
- Processes GL transactions;
- Prepares and reviews management reports;
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of regular tasks performed by the team;
- Calculates company expenses and fees;
- Reviews accounting transactions, GL accounts, and reconciliations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
- Manage month end inventory close. Analyze actual vs. planned results;
- Identify financial and environmental trends, compile data and present findings to senior leadership;
- Advanced Excel skills (in macros).
Requirements:
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process;
- SAP experience preferred;
- Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to work comfortably with the Microsoft Office suite;
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
- Advanced Excel skills (in macros);
- Strong proficiency in Excel;
- Operate efficiently in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment;
- Experience using Alteryx (utilized to streamline tasks and group files and do calculations and assist by troubleshooting issues team may be having);
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
- GAAP and SEC reporting experience is preferred but not required;
- Requires a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related function;
- General knowledge of mutual funds or experience in the investment management industry is preferred;
- Prior public accounting experience in the entertainment industry is a plus;
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, analysis and reporting of financial data;
- Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, and experience with an enterprise accounting system (such as SAP).
