Senior Cost Estimator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Cost Estimator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluates third-party estimates and tracks market conditions and costs to validate estimates;
- Establishes site-specific estimating criteria, including labor, equipment, and material supply;
- Performs project sequencing and scheduling of complex waterfront projects, building the project master construction schedule;
- Performs quantity take offs for large marine concrete structures, including formwork, reinforcement and embedded metals;
- Participates in client cost estimate and schedule reviews;
- Reviews drawings and specifications to determine costs and assists in value management on projects;
- Provides estimating guidance to medium and large projects of moderate to extreme complexity;
- Designs, implements, and maintains cost estimating database(s) using various software applications;
- Analyzes critical path activities and works through issues with the project design team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred;
- Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
- Leadership talent;
- Self-Management;
- Experience using Oracle Primavera P6 or Unifier a plus;
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making, as well as theoretical/conceptual analysis;
- Make decision to quote or no quote projects based on time, complexity and fit;
- Communicate with sales, manufacturing personnel, engineering, and customers to determine requirements;
- Adaptable to change and displays flexibility, ability to work within deadlines;
- 10+ years of consistent cost estimating experience for vertical construction/engineering projects highly preferred;
- Excellent verbal and written skills;
- Confident presenting face-to-face with clientele;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Engineering, or Architecture required; or any degree with construction/design-related experience;
- Solid experience working directly with clientele;
- Previous experience supervising junior cost estimator(s) highly preferred, but not required.
