Senior Revenue Accountant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates related documentation for external auditors and act as a contact point during corporate and program audits;
- Prepares analysis of revenue and expenditures involved in administering budgets;
- Directly responsible for the corporate internal accounting controls designed to provide for the safekeeping of the corporate resources;
- Maintenance and update of Chart of Accounts;
- Analyzes and authorizes all corporate disbursements under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer;
- Review non-standard revenue contracts and assess impact on revenue accounting and disclosures;
- Continue to increase efficiencies in processes to generate metrics which are required for financial statement reporting purposes;
- Create monthly variance analysis reports including presentation to senior management;
- Report, on a monthly basis, on activity in revenue accounts and different performance metrics;
- Provide support & maintenance to the Company’s revenue management system;
- Monthly / Annual close;
- Participate in continued development and evaluation of internal controls and processes, in accordance with best practices and SOX requirements;
- Interact with financial operations team and perform controls to ensure proper invoicing of our customers;
- Review, assess, and make recommendations for the processes which lead to or impact revenue recognition;
- Participate in review of more complex sales deals to ensure proper revenue recognition under the ASC 606 standard.
Requirements:
- 4 years of accounting experience;
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
- Detail oriented;
- CPA or CPA in progrees preferred;
- Big 4 Accounting Experience;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to deliver under pressure, and address an array of competing priorities;
- BS in Accounting, and CPA preferred and at least 3 full years of professional work experinece in accounting;
- In-depth knowledge of revenue recognition accounting standards (ASC 605 and ASC 606);
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance functions with preference for strong experience in revenue accounting;
- Knowledge of ERP systems (preferably NetSuite) is a strong plus;
- Working experience and knowledge of popular CRM systems such as Salesforce, RevPro, Zuora, etc;
- A mix of public and private accounting background preferred;
- Willingness to understand how accounting systems work, and desire to help process improvement;
- Experience working with large data sets.
