Senior Staff Accountant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Apply a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verify documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies;
- Ensuring all accounting procedures, records, and reports conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP);
- Reconcile and monitor various general ledger accounts such as clearing accounts, accrued income and accrued liability balances;
- Maintain daily posting and reconciliation of general ledger accounts pertaining to credit card transactions (PSCU);
- Prepare schedules and file regulatory report FR 2900 on a weekly basis;
- Produce weekly and monthly A/R aging reports for distribution;
- Oversees the revenue cycle process, as it relates to accounting, including executing a firm grip on accounts receivables;
- Perform ad hoc analysis around current and future projects;
- Monthly invoice preparation for Customer Contracts, Cost Plus, T&M, and FFP;
- Assist the Director of Accounting with monthly close reconciliations and reporting;
- Accounting – Daily Review and record supplier, credit card and employee expenses;
- Sending and collecting customer invoices and working with key internal stakeholders to manage A/R;
- Assist in month end close process by preparing various account reconciliations, including cash, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and deposits\
- Research and respond to cash receipt related inquiries from project teams;
- Assist the controller with month-end close.
Requirements:
- Plan and organize work, meet schedules and deadlines;
- Proficient in MS Excel, Work, Outlook, and 1 or more accounting systems;
- Support Accounting team management with special projects and workflow process improvements as assigned;
- Complete monthly accounting and general ledger activities for certain subsidiaries;
- A minimum of 5-7 year’s experience working in a finance role;
- Ability to navigate, escalate, and lead accounting efforts as necessary;
- Prior use of accounting software, G-suite products, and Excel;
- CPA;
- CPA Certification;
- Ability to work individually and with other team members with minimum supervision;
- Workpapers for all BS accts (GAAP Basics, cut-off, stock entries, depreciation, accruals);
- Must be detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Software Skills: Intermediate level Sage Intacct preferred; Microsoft Office (intermediate Word and Excel);
- Timely entry and payments for A/P & A/R (heavy volume).
