Our company is looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Determining and documenting loan conditions and communicating requirements and or decisions;
  • Reviewing, examining and underwriting loans to ensure soundness, business value and compliance with VMC standards;
  • Reviewing, evaluating and synthesizing data to ascertain loan viability and identify risk issues and potential fraud;
  • Assisting in identifying, recommending and/ or negotiating alternative loan requirements, funding and/ or loan structuring solutions;
  • Grow and maintain assigned agency base through varied points of contact;
  • Review and revises pricing and coverage to ensure premiums charged are commensurate with the exposure;
  • Update Divvy Applicant Files once a decision has been rendered;
  • Escalate certain Divvy Applicant Files to Divvy internal manager for further review;
  • Document Divvy Applicants’ files with any exceptions and/or red flags found;
  • Submission generation of GMM opportunities from target agencies that meet GMM appetite. Target quote ratio of 50% for private company opportunities;
  • Selecting individual risks with company product line pricing and underwriting guidelines;
  • Represent Arch and Executive Assurance professionally whether internally or externally at agent offices or industry events;
  • Identify and make recommendations for addressing broker performance issues with supporting analysis;
  • Consistently meet or exceed designated LOB production metrics;
  • Provide consistent documentation of underwriting files to Verus and industry best practice standards.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of legal, regulatory, economic, competitive and technological environments which potentially affect real estate lending programs;
  • Advanced computer skills;
  • Extensive understanding of underwriting systems and their inter dependencies;
  • BA or BS, ideally with a degree/major in Economics, Business, Finance, or Accounting;
  • 3+ years of Management Liability underwriting preferred;
  • May require travel by airplane;
  • May require travel, including overnight travel;
  • BA/BS degree strongly preferred, or equivalent in experience;
  • Strategic thinking;
  • Analytical judgment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to build strong relationships;
  • CPCU or other related Insurance Designation(s) preferred;
  • Can effectively communicate both written and orally;
  • Requires frequent use of computer.
