Tax Associate Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Tax Associate to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in and contribute to market and business activities external to the firm;
- Build and manage client relationships;
- Ensures professional development through ongoing education and obtaining additional certifications as appropriate;
- Some travel may be required;
- Other duties as assigned;
- Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, concerns, etc;
- Develop, motivate, and train staff level and intern team members – approximately 10% of your time;
- Perform engagement management activities including billing analysis, invoicing and engagement setup;
- Interview clients to get a thorough picture of financial situation;
- Review payroll reporting, withholding for wages paid to expatriate employees for accuracy including actual compensation statements;
- Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures;
- Performs related work and special projects as assigned;
- Prepare tax returns for a variety of clients, including corporations, S corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and LLPs;
- Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including income tax compliance and related research;
- 4 year degree in Accounting or related field.

- Effective communication and time management skills;
- Excellent financial analysis skills;
- Develop positive working relationships with Firm and client personnel;
- Master’s degree from an accredited college/university (or bachelor’s degree with requisite hours to pursue CPA certification) or JD/LLM;
- Self-motivated, driven, with ability to work independently as well as work as team;
- Business level Japanese/Korean and English with good writing skills, native in at least one language is required;
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and able to work with various levels of management;
- Minimum of One year of experience in individual tax;
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a public accounting environment;
- BA/BS Degree – preferably in Accounting or related field of study;
- Masters of Accounting;
- CPA, JD, LLM, or EA;
- Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, partnerships ,and a solid knowledge of ASC 740;
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
