Valuation Analyst Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Valuation Analyst to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Author specifications by example and develop prototypes using the firm’s trading infrastructure;
- Identify, prioritize, refine and execute on business requirements that add value, improve the firm’s control infrastructure and analytical tools;
- Serve as an SME in product knowledge for securities and loans trading;
- Research, develop and incorporate business and process analytics into production IPV solutions;
- Maintaining proprietary valuation databases;
- Preparing, completing, and ensuring the accuracy of financial models and sophisticated valuation analyses;
- Interfacing with client management teams to understand value drivers across various industries;
- Writing valuation reports and presentations;
- Collaborating with other team members to share information and insights;
- Working with and improving Carta financial software tools and models;
- Being knowledgeable about a wide range of companies and industries;
- Interacting with clients and preparing deliverables;
- Tracking the capital markets and analyzing any changes within the markets;
- Adapting one’s analysis to specified formats, templates, styles and deadlines when creating reports;
- Analyzing privately-held securities.
Requirements:
- Previous professional service experience serving clients is a plus;
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
- Strong writing skills and experience with PowerPoint and Microsoft Word;
- One (1) to Three (3) years of experience in business valuation;
- Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and apply them to new markets;
- Proficiency at financial modeling with advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field;
- One to three years of professional experience in valuations, corporate finance, fixed income or accounting;
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
- Effective organizational skills and the aptitude to manage people and work products;
- Extensive experience working with complex valuation and projection models;
- CFA, ASA, or other relevant certifications highly desired (or progress toward such certifications);
- Strong communication skills and experience interacting with teammates and clients;
- Understanding of common financial concepts (WACC, DCF, Black-Scholes OPM), and portfolio theory;
- Active CPA and/or minimum of CFA Level I is preferred, but not required.
