Our company is looking for a Middle School Counselor to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Counseling students individually and in groups throughout the year;
- Teaching Middle School Life Balance classes;
- Developing learning opportunities for teachers to better understand how to support students in various situations;
- Communicating and consulting effectively with parents, via individual meetings, grade level parent meetings, and written correspondence;
- Being an active member of the Student Support Team;
- Participating in counseling professional development each year;
- Collaborating with teachers and administrators on student issues;
- Presenting at Grade Level Parent Nights;
- Attending Counseling Department Meetings;
- Attending Middle School Grade Level Lunch Meetings;
- Assisting Counseling Team with Advisory Placements in the summer months (beginning summer of 2021).
Requirements:
- Be energetic, collaborative, well-organized, self-directed, and have excellent time-management skills and flexibility;
- Be able to offer parent consultation;
- Support the mission and vision of Catherine Cook School and work collaboratively with the parents, faculty, and staff;
- Be able to establish and nurture relationships with students and parents;
- Have a tremendous capacity to listen with compassion, genuine interest and sincerity, and professionalism to serve the Catherine Cook community well;
- Have an understanding of and experience with 504 plans and individualized education plans (ieps);
- Have knowledge of professional resources in the mental health field to support the work and the needs that may arise in the school setting.
