Journeyman Lineman Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Journeyman Lineman to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Connects transformers;
- Assists cable splicers in network underground systems;
- Inspects trench, pull box and vault installation; customer service facilities;
- String, splice, transfer and sag wire and connect to transformers;
- Perform complex rigging techniques; cable locating;
- Constructs/removes/maintains transmission towers/lines and distribution lines;
- Instructs & directs sub-ordinates;
- Installs/repairs cubicle/transformer wells, transformers, capacitors & related line apparatus, sprinkler systems, landscaping;
- Climbs poles, structures or ladders;
- Operates various types of equipment and vehicles (may require class A license); mobile data terminals;
- Performs work on lines energized @ 120V through 230 KV; tests on high voltage circuits;
- Assist in carrying poles, digging holes, piking and guying poles as well as erecting steel towers;
- Frames, sets, removes, poles and associated anchors and guys;
- Shorten or lengthen lines utilizing splices, connectors, sleeves or clamps;
- Assists electricians in wiring electric substations.
Requirements:
- Journeyman Lineman Certification Required;
- Commitment to safe working practices and knowledge of safety policies/procedures;
- Bucket truck and pole top rescue certification;
- Adapt to technological changes as they are implemented;
- Valid Commercial driver’s license and satisfactory driving record;
- Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record;
- Act as a leadsman or foreman as needed;
- CPR/First Aid Certification;
- High school diploma or equivalent.
