Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Linux server troubleshooting to assure high levels of stability, reliability, and availability of the LTN service;
- Diagnose and fix video related issues;
- Monitor the LTN global video network, LTN internal systems and LTN customer Linux appliances;
- Solve end-to-end serviceissues;
- Troubleshoot and diagnose IP network issues and determine appropriate solutions;
- Interface with new and existing customers to provision new services and resolve complex, critical or urgent customer issues;
- Perform first-tier troubleshooting using tools and utilities to resolve system/network performance and related system/network issues;
- Configure, optimize, and fine-tune monitoring systems;
- Install operating system software, patches, and upgrades;
- As the first line of defense, you will monitor systems and validate alerts using our array of monitoring tools;
- Coordinate and implement network, software and hardware upgrades with the Network Operations and Development teams;
- Work with the Network Operations team and Application Support Engineers to ensure maximum uptime of the system;
- Proactively work to refine documentation of systems/network, troubleshooting guides, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
- Schedule flexibility with ability to work non-standard business hours;
- Background in administering GlassFish, IIS, MSSQL or MySQL;
- Strong troubleshooting skills;
- A keen analytical and structured approach to problem solving;
- A dedication to customer satisfaction;
- Excellent documentation skills;
- Familiarity with various monitoring tools such as Nagios/Icinga, Graphite or Gomez/Keynote;
- Experience administering Windows Servers (2k3 – 2k8) or Unix (RHEL / CentOS) systems and networks;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment;
- Proven ability to work independently;
- Strong communication skills.
