Senior Cisco Network Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Cisco Network Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop automated, scripted processes and procedures to ensure managed environments maintain the highest levels of availability, security, and quality;
- Serve as the subject matter expert for network security components such as firewalls, VPN, IPS/IDS, and Lan/Wan networks;
- Develop capacity forecasts for managed environments that are proactive and prevent problems prior to outages;
- Recommend enhancements to the network that will improve the quality, performance, security, and reliability of the network;
- Provide design/support for Palo Alto security solutions and Panorama Management;
- Provide guidance on topics broadly related to information security risk and compliance;
- Provide technical network expertise to others as necessary, including instructing field personnel in basic networking;
- Follow all set procedures and policies pertaining to the Change Management System;
- Create and maintain documentation of networks and network systems;
- Accommodate schedule flexibility to deal with escalations and occasional changes during non-core business hours.
Requirements:
- Experience with user and security administration in the Windows/Unix environment;
- Demonstrate the ability to work in an open way, willingness to share knowledge and resources, and educate others within a global team;
- Serve as the subject matter expert for network security components such as firewalls, VPN, IPS/IDS, and Lan/Wan networks;
- Recommend enhancements to the network that will improve the quality, performance, security, and reliability of the network;
- Strong familiarity with security issues surrounding network computing and experience in implementation of security systems and controls;
- 8+ years’ of relevant experience supporting a production environment;
- Extensive experience with maintenance and administration of Palo Alto and Cisco environments;
- Expert knowledge of Firewalls, Cisco networking, VPNs, ISE, security best practice frameworks and environments;
- Effectively use teamwork to contribute to a high-morale/high-performance team culture, leading by example;
- Provide guidance on topics broadly related to information security risk and compliance;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Non-Windows Server architectures, Virtualization Technologies, and LAN/WAN/Firewall/VPN network technologies;
- 3 to 5 years’ of PowerShell Automation experience for advanced level Firewall automation;
- Accommodate schedule flexibility to deal with escalations and occasional changes during non-core business hours;
- Follow all set procedures and policies pertaining to the Change Management System;
- Ability to communicate with offshore teams and technical development teams.
