Sr. Systems Administrator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Sr. Systems Administrator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Scripting knowledge (VB, Batch, WSH, PowerShell, Python);
- Day-to-day proactive network and systems performance monitoring and taking corrective actions;
- Strong experience with Exchange, Office 365, Domain Controller, Active Directory;
- Ability to occasionally work outside of standard business hours;
- Network upgrades, hardware refreshes and OS/software upgrades and patching;
- Reviewing, applying and removing approved user permissions to files and groups on the domain;
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software problems;
- Documenting hardware and software configurations, maintenance history, backup history;
- Creating and managing user/group accounts;
- Perform manual data transfers using approved software and procedures;
- Installing, configuring, updating, and removing system and application software from Windows and Linux operating systems;
- Monitoring and allocating system resources (CPU, memory, and storage space);
- Auditing system log files, to include compliance audits;
- Networking – Basic routing and switching;
- Storage – NetApp, SAN, NAS.
Requirements:
- Ability to occasionally work outside of standard business hours;
- Strong experience with Exchange, Office 365, Domain Controller, Active Directory;
- Experience with Storage Area Networks (NetApp, EqualLogic, EMC, Nimble);
- Scripting knowledge (VB, Batch, WSH, PowerShell, Python);
- Day-to-day proactive network and systems performance monitoring and taking corrective actions;
- Deep understanding of the Windows Operating System, including application servers, database software and deployment technologies;
- Network upgrades, hardware refreshes and OS/software upgrades and patching;
- Experience with Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V);
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years experience as a Windows Systems Administrator;
- Experience working with Linux, Aix, or UNIX is preferred;
- Professional level certification from one of the following, VMWare, Microsoft or Cisco (e.g., VCP6-DCV, MCSE, CCNP-DC), is required;
- Experience with enterprise monitoring tools is required;
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Proven ability to setup and configure applications utilizing Internet Information Services (IIS) in a Windows Server environment.
