Diesel Mechanic Apprentice Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Diesel Mechanic Apprentice to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Be paired with a senior mechanic to learn and further develop skills;
- Other duties as assigned;
- Heavy Duty Diesel mechanical certification with Hazmat endorsement (preferred, not required);
- 1-2 years’ experience working on diesel trucks/vehicles;
- Complete quarterly check-ins with the Service Manager in order to move into a more skilled mechanic role;
- Familiarity with truck maintenance and standard concepts.
Requirements:
- Experience with CAT, Detroit, Cummins or International engines is a definite asset;
- Experience with Freightliner/Western Star, Volvo/Mack, Kenworth/Peterbilt International or Mitsubishi, is an asset;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Experience with brake adjustments;
- Willingness and aptitude to learn and be trained;
- Experience with oil changes;
- Completion of a trade school program or at least 1 year of diesel mechanic experience;
- Drive and responsibility to work independently.
