Our company is looking for a Senior Building Inspector to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Checks methods of construction and quality of materials at building sites;
  • Assist with payroll reviews for conformance with the Davis Bacon Act;
  • Identify potential change orders and assist the Director of Projects in mitigating potential impact;
  • Review and recommend contractor pay estimates, as directed;
  • Assist the Director of Projects with overall project administration, as instructed;
  • Maintain basic record keeping practices on paper or with a computer;
  • Ability to interact with difficult people in a constructive manner;
  • Read and interpret building plans, specifications and building codes;
  • Detect deviations from plans or specifications and standard construction practices;
  • Provide code interpretation to the client, building professionals & the public;
  • Handle several tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to details in an environment of frequent interruptions;
  • Conducts research and prepares reports regarding work unit activities, or regarding selected inspections, complaints, or disputes;
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned;
  • Delivers and promotes quality customer service;
  • Supervises the inspection and enforcement activities of the division.

Requirements:

  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license is required;
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook);
  • Possess an International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Combination Building Inspector – Residential and Commercial;
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in building construction supervising;
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in building inspection with a private or public agency;
  • Familiarity with Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code, or similar;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Read and understand drawings, diagrams and specifications for construction projects;
  • ACI Level I Certification;
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in building construction;
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in building inspection with a private or public agency;
  • Hands-on experience with MS Suite software;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
